Terms

Short version: the patterns you upload stay yours, the demo costs nothing and takes no card, an automatic trace can be wrong, and you check the printed test square before you cut cloth. The rest of this page says the same in more detail.

What the service is

digitizemypattern turns a photograph of a flat pattern piece into an outline you can correct in the browser and download as a tiled PDF, an AAMA and ASTM DXF and an HPGL PLT. It is run by eweb studios, and the contact details at the bottom of every page reach the people who run it.

The free demo

Everything on the site is free while the demo runs: unlimited pieces, all three file formats, unlimited corrections. No card is asked for and nothing starts charging you by itself. When prices are set they will be published on the site, and using the service after that is your decision, not an automatic renewal.

Your patterns stay yours

Uploading a photograph gives us no ownership of it or of the pattern it shows. You keep every right you had. What you give us is permission to do the work: to process the photograph, to produce and store the files while your job is alive, and to keep one working copy of the outline, stripped of your account, so the tracing gets better. Write to us and yours comes out of that copy.

You are responsible for having the right to copy the piece you photograph. Copying a pattern for your own sewing is what tracing has always been for. Selling or handing round copies of a pattern somebody else drafted is a different matter and nothing here changes it. We do not inspect what you upload and we do not decide it for you.

Check before you cut

An automatic trace can be wrong, and a photograph taken at an angle or in poor light will be wrong more often. Page one of every PDF carries a test square. Print at 100 per cent with page fitting off, measure that square with a ruler, and only then cut. The files are supplied as they are, and checking them against your own measurements before cutting cloth is your part of the job.

Your account

Keep the password to yourself, and tell us if you think somebody else has it. An account used to attack the service, to flood it, or to upload unlawful material can be closed without notice. Otherwise you can have your account closed any time by asking.

Availability

The service runs on one server and is taken down from time to time for work on it. We do not promise it will be up at any particular moment, and during the demo we do not promise it will keep any file for you. Download what matters to you.

Limits

As far as the law allows, we are not liable for cloth, time or money lost through the use of these files, and the service comes without a warranty of any kind. Nothing on this page takes away a right that the law does not let us take away.

Changes, and how to reach us

If these terms change, the date at the top changes with them. If something goes wrong, write first and we will sort it out with you:
